My Top 10 - Holiday Painting Ideas

1. Winter Wonderland
A peaceful snowy landscape with frosty trees, sparkling snowflakes, and a bright winter sky is a classic holiday favorite.  Painters love adding snow to the trees and snow in the sky.  There are 2 different techniques we teach for snow that give the painters the flexibility to add as much or as little as they like.

2. Christmas Tree Glow
A brightly lit Christmas tree with glowing ornaments and twinkling lights makes for a cheerful and festive painting that’s full of holiday warmth.  This is a crowd favorite because of the twinkle we add.  We use white and yellows to add a bit of shine.  Glitter is another good option, as well.

3. Snowman Cheer
A fun and whimsical snowman, complete with a scarf, hat, and carrot nose, is a playful holiday scene that everyone can enjoy painting.  This painting idea is a lot of fun because we encourage the painter to consider the size and personality of the snowman.  Sometimes participants will put a cat next to the snowman or paint the scarf lots of fun colors.  We love giving our painters the opportunity to personalize their work in our classes.

4. Santa’s Sleigh
A magical scene with Santa’s sleigh flying across a night sky, pulled by reindeer and silhouetted against the moon. It’s a fun, imaginative holiday theme.

5. Holiday Ornaments
A close-up of beautifully decorated ornaments hanging from a tree branch or lying on a bed of snow offers endless opportunities for customization with different colors and designs.  We could also add a little glitter into a paint kit and really make them shine.  Adding glitter is easy and a fun option to consider.

6. Cozy Fireplace
Capture the warmth of the holiday season with a crackling fireplace scene, complete with stockings hung on the mantel and a decorated tree in the background.

7. Christmas Village
A charming scene of a snow-covered village with cozy cottages, glowing street lamps, and holiday decorations transports painters into a nostalgic winter wonderland.

8. Holiday Wreath
A festive wreath adorned with holly, berries, pinecones, and a bright red bow is a simple yet elegant holiday painting that brings joy to any occasion.

9. Gingerbread House
Painting a whimsical gingerbread house decorated with colorful candies and icing is a fun, lighthearted holiday project that sparks creativity.

10. Northern Lights
A magical winter scene featuring the vibrant Northern Lights illuminating the night sky over a snowy landscape adds a unique and awe-inspiring element to holiday art.
