My Painting Inspiration
As an artist, I get inspiration from many things. I saw this photography online and said – wow – how simple and beautiful. The composition, subject and texture put me into action to paint.
You can see the similarities and differences between my original and the photograph. That is the fun of painting. Start somewhere and see where it takes you.

Paint Supplies for Tutorial
- Canvas, Canvas Panel, Acrylic Paper – Something to paint on – any size works. I typically use 11″ x 14″ size in my classes.
- Acrylic Paints – Colors, Red, Yellow, Orange, Blue, Black and White
- A set of acrylic craft brushes – 2-4 brushes will work. You will want a larger brush for the background coverage areas and a fine tip brush for the leaf details.
- A cup of water to rinse your brushes
- A pencil for some composition sketching
- A paper towel for any messes
