We painted and celebrated local history!

paint and sip class fundraiser

Fundraiser to support the musuem

We had a great group of local community members join us to rais e money and practice their skills.  The painting we selected was inspiration by the Maiden’s Fountain in Taylor Park, St. Albans Vermont.

Painting the fountain with the city and park background required patience, but the group did very well for this challenging piece.

What did we paint? The historic "Maiden's Fountain"

Built in the 1800’s – 5 ladies were featured in this focal point in St. Albans city town center.  It took a crew of 24 workers many months to build.  The fountain has been restored 2 or 3 times over the years and still stands in place with insurmountable beauty for the community to enjoy.

How did it work?

The Saint Albans Historical Museum was gracious enough to host the event and we setup an array of artist stations in a large ball room.  Like many of our paint and sip class, everyone gets an selection of paints, brushes, an artist easel and canvas board to paint on.

As the participants arrived, they were ready to paint.  There was groups of friends, neighbors, partners and more.  Everyone was welcoming and looking forward to the fundraising activity.

We started just after 6:30pm and Lisa, the Executive Director of the Museum, kicked us off sharing a warm welcome and a few facts about the building.

We then jumped into the paint class.  Our approach was to paint the background details and paint the fountain as the final step.  Once our brushes hit our canvas, we all mapped our a beautiful blue gradiant sky, tree line, st albans cityscape and the base of our fountain.  The inspiration was incredibly detail oriented, so it took us 2 full ours to get through the basic forms and a handful of depth detail for our fountain, buildings and more.

The group really did enjoy it and learn new techniques for the future.

It was a wonderful opportunity to partner with the Saint Albans Historical museum and bring members of our community together. We do look forward to partnering with them again soon.
